I fariglioni Sant’Andrea
Moving from the Sant'Andrea cove towards the north, along the rocky ridge, a few hundred meters away you can admire one of the most evocative views of Salento: the Sant'Andrea stacks. In local dialect this point of the cliff is known as Lu pepe. Stone giants rise above the sea before the visitor's eyes: arches, monoliths, outcropping rocks, natural architecture that seems artfully designed to enchant.
If you continue along the cliff, towards the north, a few tens of meters away you come across a steep staircase that descends towards the sea: it is the scala de lu Bastimentu. The elders say that at an unspecified time a ship ran aground in that spot, a ship full of grain. In order not to lose the precious cargo, the local inhabitants dug a ladder into the rock to reach the boat and recover the goods.
